Responding to question raised by BJP legislator Dr Tangor Tapak, the Chief Minister informed the Assembly that the state Govt had already submitted the proposal to Central Govt with comments of the state government on the memorandum submitted by the elected representatives of Tirap and Changlang. MLA Tapak raised the the fact that the resolutions passed in this house during 2004 and 2007 regarding creation of two autonomous district councils (ADCs) comprising (i)Tirap-Changlang and present Londging district and (ii) Tawang and West Kameng districts.
CM informed that the state Govt has been approaching the Union Home Ministry from time to time on this issue. He further said "we are going to meet the union minister again soon to discuss the issue."
The CM further informed the house that development process in Tirap, Changlang and Londging has already been initiated with creation of department of Tirap, Changlang and Longding with Rs 25 crore fund per annum. Besides the schemes under Border Area Development Programme, many other developmental schemes sponsored by the Central Govt are being implemented in the three districts.
When asked by Tamiya Taga whether the state Govt is considering for more political and financial power for Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts, the Chief Minister said lot of development activities have already been undertaken in these three districts.
