// PRESS RELEASE //
ALONG:- The Annual Action Plan for the year 2004-05 for various schemes like SGSY, SGSY-I, IAY, PMRY (GA) under DRDA were threadbarely discussed and finalized in the 4th governing body meeting held under the chairmanship of Gumli Lollen, Chairperson of West Siang Zilla Parishad on June 30 last. All ZPMs, Anchal Chairpersons, HODs and BDOs of the District attended the meeting.
Presiding over the function Lollen said that Panchayat leaders at all levels will have to shoulder the responsibilities of local governance so that every drop of benefits percolate down to rural masses. A sense of determination and responsibility alone can shape rural destinies and bring good-will to the institutions, he added.
In his address, the CEO and Member Secretary, Repo Ronya said that governing body meeting is the Apex Decision-making body and grass root leaders have a vital role to play after taking over the helm of affairs of governance. It is imperative that they inculcate all rules and procedures of running the institutions through massive training from time to time. The Central grants may dwindle in the year to come and it is important to make the PRI, a fund generating one without depending solely on DRDA fund. Any political rivalry and deprivation will simply defeat the very purpose of conceiving the institution, he said.
The schemes taken up in all blocks were read out by the BDOs and given a final nod varying AAP of Kaying - Payum and Along West which were approved in principle and subject to finalization within a week. Intimation of state AOP to Panchayat leaders, conduct of Anchal meetings besides other issues were discussed in the marathon meeting.
