Naharlagun : The Reh festival of the Idu-Mishmi tribe of the state, was observed with traditional fervour and gaiety throughout the Dibang
Valley District from Feb 1 to 3 last. Reh festival is being celebrated every year on February first week by
sacrificing Mithuns, pigs etc to appease the almighty Nyanyi-Intaya of the Idu- Mishmi tribe. In this
festival, all the kiths & kins, neighbours and distant relatives from far-off places are invited, sending a message of brotherhood, love and
peace to all. The Deputy Commissioner of Dibang Valley District, Sudhir Kumar, who was
the chief guest at the central Reh Festiva celebrationl at Anini, on Feb.1,last, in his address to the local people, wished all a happy reh
festival. He appreciated that the Reh festival to welcome guests is being celebrated in the district saying guest are the messenger of your
society when they leave this place adding that likewise, the people from the other states are the messenger of their society. He urged them to
continue the spirit and maintain their customs and traditions. Earlier on feb1last, Loga Tacho,Political Assistant of the DC's office,
Anini, hoisted the Reh flag. He gave a brief overview of the history of Reh festival celebration . The celebration marked sacrifices of
Mithuns, Pigs and other animals. Traditional dances and songs were other highlights on the occasion.
