KHONSA:- The Deputy Commissioner In
Charge, Tirap District W. Lowang, the DDSE, Khonsa Dr S. N. Ahmed
and other officers and the public leaders supervised mid day meal distribution
at Lapnan and Khonsa primary Schools on July 6,last.
While welcoming the participants on the occasion, Dr. S. N. Ahmed, DDSE threw
light on the benefits of the mid day scheme for the poor schools children and
added that earlier the children were given uncooked materials which proved to be
not so popular among the children and the parents. He further said that Honourable
Supreme Court has taken a serious view of the fact that many states had
not implemented the scheme properly and has instructed all the states to
implement the same at the earliest. It may be recalled that at many states the
scheme had been discontinued. According to the new scheme an amount of Rs. 60/-
per month per student from class I to V would be given and materials like rice
would be given directly from the FCIs to the cooperatives from where the schools
would procure, free of cost.
The new scheme calls for involvements of parents to make the scheme a success.
The mothers will be required to assists in looking etc. on rotation basis. The
mid day scheme would be started in all the primary schools soon. The villagers
have appreciated the education department for the new scheme.
