While welcoming the participants on the occasion, Dr. S. N. Ahmed, DDSE threw light on the benefits of the mid day scheme for the poor schools children and added that earlier the children were given uncooked materials which proved to be not so popular among the children and the parents. He further said that Honourable Supreme Court has taken a serious view of  the fact that many states had not implemented the scheme properly  and has instructed all the states to implement the same at the earliest. It may be recalled that at many states the scheme had been discontinued. According to the new scheme an amount of Rs. 60/- per month per student from class I to V would be given and materials like rice would be given directly from the FCIs to the cooperatives from where the schools would procure, free of cost.

The new scheme calls for involvements of parents to make the scheme a success. The mothers will be required to assists in looking etc. on rotation basis. The mid day scheme would be started in all the primary schools soon. The villagers have appreciated the education department for the new scheme.
