Bomdila : A disaster management meeting was held
today by the District Administration wherein all the head of offices, public
leaders , NGOs and GBS attended and which was chaired by Mrs. Y. W. Ringu,
ADC.She dealt at length about the probable earthquake which has been predicted
for the North East with its epicenter at Guwahati . She emphasized on the
members to follow the dos and donts so as to minimize the misfortunes,
casualties etc in case of an occurrence. By virtue of her past experiences in
disaster management, She appealed that one should not panic nor spread rumours
nor make others panic but be prepared for the same well in advance so as to
avert the consequences in case to a minimum. She further informed the house that
in case of an occurrence of earthquake, the office of the Deputy Commissioner
and the police station Bomdila would be the command centre and requested all the
able bodied people to be ready to help out in case of an occurrence. With
regards to the forthcoming Buddha Mahotsava Celebration at Dirang in West Kameng
District, She informed the house that the date for celebration has been deferred
to 23rd, 24th and 25th of February’05 because of the Kaziranga festival in
Assam wherein the previous dates collided with each other. Later,
discussions were held for the celebration of 56th REPUBLIC Day in a befitting
manner. A district level football tournament is also in the offing which would
be held w.e.f. 15th of this month organized by the district sports association
Bomdila. The final would be played on 26th of this month to commemorate the 56th
REPUBLIC DAY celebration of the Nation. Besides other incentives and prizes for
individual performances, an amount of Rs. 5000/- and Rs. 10,000/- has been
declared for the runner’s up and winners team respectively.
