Naharlagun - The M.L.A. and advisor to the HCM, R.K. Khrimey has exhorted
the officers to work in unison and ensure development of the district taking
advantage of the resources in the best possible manner and said that the
district officers have a vital role to play in dissemination of information,
planning and execution of works in the district to pave the way for all round
development in the district.Khrimey was addressing at his first introductory
meeting with the head of the offices of West Kameng district on Jan 4 last at
Bomdila after being elected as an independent candidate from 5- Kalaktang (ST)
under West Kameng District. While emphasizing on the development of core sectors
like agriculture and horticulture to make the people self sufficient, he
stressed on tapping the rich Hydro Power Resources of the state. While lamenting
on the 12% share to be given to this state by N.H.P.C for generating power in
the state, he termed it as a peanut share for the state. He also interacted with
all the officers individually, giving a patient hearing to their problems and
other grievances related to their department and assured every possible help
from his side. Being a seasoned leader and a good orator he kept the house
amused for a good stretch of time citing various experiences topped with
anecdotes from his long career in politics in various capacities and putting
words of encouragement and persuasion. During the meeting, Khrimey also
initiated the observance of 2 minute silence as a mark of respect to the Tsunami
Victims. Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner J. Angu welcomed the MLA and hoped for
renewed vigor and determination in the officers for the betterment and all round
development of the district. Angu further informed that a deciding meeting of
the officers would be conveyed very soon for finalization of Buddha Mahotsova
which has been slated for mid February and revealed that ground works and
tie-ups with the sponsors for the
much awaited celebration are going in the right direction.
