A two-day training Programme on Planning and management of Sampurna Gram Rojgar Yojana (SGRY) was conducted at Tezu from February, 24to 25 last, by the State Institute of Rural Development, Itanagar (SIRD). Shri P.S. Lokhande, Deputy Commissioner, inaugurated the Programme where all BDOS, extension Officers (RE), and ZPMS and Anchal Samittee Chairpersons of both Anjaw and Lohit District attended. Reports DIPRO Tezu. Addressing the participants on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner P.S. Lokhande urged functionaries of DRDA to endeavor to provide best possible services to masses under all Programmes. He also advised Officers of the agency to bring transparency in the system, adding that an approach would instill more confidence among public. Appreciating the successful food-for-work Programme undertaken recently in Lekang, Namsai, and Wakro blocks, he also complimented Lohit District DRDA for enhancing its image in the last two years. Shri N. Sahoo and Kirto Loyi, both Asstt Directors of SIRD conducted the two-day training programme as course Directors. They explained about various objectives and guidelines regarding SGRY and its implementation and management  to the participants. Through use of slides and audio-visual aids, they informed about role of Panchayati Raj Institution in SGRY Programme implementation and planning, Preparation of Annual Action Plan, Funding Pattern among various levels of PRIS, basic features of SGRY. According to them SGRY, which has been introduced by merging earlier two schemes of EAS and JGSY in September 2001, aims to provide additional wage employment and food security besides creation of socio-economic and community assets for all-round development in rural areas. Summing up the two-day activity, Shri Sahoo expressed satisfaction over keen participation of members and hoped inputs provided in the course would be useful to them. Shri Loyi informed the programme planed by SIRD to sensitise all functionaries of Rural development, would cover entire districts of the State. He appealed participants to render Similar co-operation and initiative in future. Presiding over the valedictory function Shri N. Ete, Project Director, DRDA, advised all officers to enrich themselves with the latest rules and guidelines of all programmes for their effective implementation.
