Naharlagun February 25 -The Nyokum Yullow celebration got to a colourful
start here in the Nyokumlapong with the unfurling of the Nyokum Yullow
flag by East Kameng Deputy Commissioner Shri Y.D. Thongching February 24
last, amidst singing of Nyokum Yullow song.
In his address Shri Thongchi, appreciated the organizers for
maintainint the traditions the community and for the cleanliness they
had maintained in paid around that Inner Shri Tongchi, while realling
the effors of late Tader Tang in bringing the celebration of Nyokum
Yullow and community basis and he had done a great job for the communit
and requested the people to continue the spirit for the future
generations / Refering to the reported non-participation of some
religious converte in Nyokum Yullow celebration. Shri thongechi advised
them to take part in the Nyokum Yullo celebration. Shri thongchi advised
them to take part in the Nyoku Yullow celebrations as it is a cultural
festival rather than a religious festival. The dresses and costumes are
an identity of ones own belongingness to the community and can be worn
by people or any religions even while praying to their respective god.
