PASIGHAT MARCH, 30 - 2 (two) days Indigenous Youth Festival' 2005 was
inaugurated by Shri C.C.Sighpho, HM (Civil Supply & Health & F/W ) at
Ruksin on March, 29 last, Shri M.Ete, DC, East Siang was the guest of honour, accompanied
by Shri Bosiram Siram MLA, Ex MLA Dr. T. Tapak,
amongst other.
Speaking on the occasion Shri C.C. Singhpho said that the festival is a
welcome occasion. The young generation has to be taught about the
culture & tradition as the purity & sanctity of the culture is being
eroded slowly. All the religionsus have roots in nature. So the
developed countries are interested in the tribal cultures and they are
also looking for their roots & identity. These types of festivals will
revitalize the preservation & development of culture and tradition.
Donyi Poloism has become a religion. However, religion & culture should not be mixed
up.
Shri Singpho, assured to provide water supply & fencing to the Ruksin, C.H.C. He also informed that equipments for the
Regional Diagnostic
Centre has been approved and the equipments will be provided soon.
He informed that Shri G. Apang, H.C.M. has conveyed has best wishes for
the festival and is very happy.
He also said that the mindset of the people should be changed & work for
development. Festival has been organized timely. Some of the youth has
been misguided & they are taking to drug abuse anti social activities
They should be guided properly & discourage them to take the wrong
diversion. The govt. is also taking up with the central govt. to check
this menace. Also it is proposing for drug de addiction center wherever
required. Our society is also being threatened by AIDS & HIV. We have to
create awareness among the masses to prevent the disease. As there is no
treatment. Also cancer cell has been opened at Naharlagun. So for early
detection & treatment people should avail the facility.
He assured to provide all possible help and hoped for the successes of
the festival .He donated Rs.20,000/- (twenty thousand) only to the
organizing committee.
Shri M. Ete, said that he was impressed by the dedication & enthusiasm
of the participant's.He said we are identified by our culture &
tradition. All should preserve their culture irrespective of any
religion followed. There has been erosion of the culture, but he was
hopeful that thought such festivals, the youth will be corrected and
they will adopt the good practices & modify the bad practices. He
congratulated all for the successful celebration. He appealed to all to
spread the message of the festival to all. He assured all co- operation
& help for the district administration.
Shri Bosiram Siram said this is a great and memorable occasion. The
young generation will be given a good direction though preservation of
culture as culture is our identity. The traditional affairs & practices
should be preserved. The Youths generation knows the importance of the
culture & tradition. He donated Rs. 10,000/- to the organizing committee.
Dr. T. Tapak while appreciating the organizing committee said that now
the whole world is realizing the importance of preservation of one's own
culture & tradition. All should untedly celebrate such festivals. He
informed the minister that the upcoming Regional Diagnostic Centre & the
CHC does not have proper water supply. Some staff quarters were also
required. Security fencing was also needed. So, he urged the minister to
look in the matter.
Shri P. Panyang & Shri T. Panyang while welcoming all & presenting
keynote address respectively said that the festival is organized to
uplift the culture & tradition especially to the youth. Influence of the
western culture is growing & the traditions are been forgotten. The
youths have to be given the right direction. The young generation will
carry forward the matter of the festival.
Traditional craft display/Handloom & handicraft/Ponung, Tapu, food, Raseng, Dere, Bari-Nenem, Traditional hunting & trapping instruments,
flower show and etc, were the other highlight of the festivals.
Earlier, Shri C.C. Singhpho & Shri Bosiram Siram along with Officers
visited J.N. College/Siang Bridge site/Gen Hospital & Buddha Mandir at
Pasighat.
At the General Hospital he met the Doctors and staffs. He inpected the
Hospital & interacted with trainees of Malaria Microscope Training for
laboratory technicians of East Siang, Upper Siang & West Siang for
detection of Malaria patients. The training was organized by D.M.O. in
collaboration with Regional Director for FW, Shillong. The lab.
Technician from Regional laboratory shillong has come to impart the 10
day training. The minister assured to provide all possible help for the
development of the Institution.
