Naharlagun, May 31 - The department of Health & Family Welfare, Changlang headed by the District Medical Officer, Dr. P. De has conducted a anti-Malaria camp at various villages under Changlang district headquarter w.e.f. May 24th last, reports DIPRO Changlang. During the campaign, the eight member medicalteam comprising of Medical Superintendent Dr. W Taisam and her team members distributed mosquito nets free of cost to the villagers of Kuchep-I & II, Yatdam, Jongram and Langkang. Impregnation of mosquito nets was also done in which 600 sachets of 10 ml Keothrine flow were utilized. In a meeting at Yatdam today, chaired by the local administrative officer, CO Yatdam, Shri A Regon, the team demonstrated the way of impregnation of mosquito nets and its use. In his address the chairman urged the local villagers to avail every opportunity rendered by the team in order to create a malaria free zone. He particularly emphasized the women section to come forward and take the advantages. The District Medical officer, Dr. P De while delivering a brief lecture on the occasion elaborated the cause and process of malaria transmission by mosquito and its easy and early precaution by IRS of DDT. He also dwelt on the use of blood slide collection from the person suffering from fever and its prompt treatment by Chloroquine in adequate doses. He further requested the Anganwadi workers to create  awareness amongst the ignorant villagers about malaria and its precautions. The Chairperson, Changlang Anchal Block, Smti. W Pongte also spoke on the occasion. The campaign was supported by all the Panchayat leaders, public leaders and local villagers of Changlang, the report added.
