Tawang( Bumla Border ) Oct 3 - On the occasion of the 56th National
Republic Day, the Chinese Border Troops opposite the Kameng Sector invited their
Indian counterparts to join them in their celebrations near BumLa in
Tawang District of Arunachal Pradesh on Oct 1st last . The Indian Army officers
and soldiers who joined the special celebrations on the Chinese side Across the
International Boundary were accompanied by their families and media persons,
reports DIPRO Tawang. Meanwhile the army sources stated that the interaction
between the Chinese and the Indian Troops dates back to 30th May 2003 and from
there it becomes an annual event which is termed as the Border Personnel
Meeting(BPM).Further it is said that the last meeting on 15th August 2005 on eve
of Indian Independence Day hosted by the Indian side had cemented
the bonds of mutual trust, confidence and friendship. More over Chinese have
been reciprocating this by inviting every year their Indian counterparts on
their National Day, the sources added. The celebrations on Oct 1, commenced with
Chinese Delegations Leader Col Li Ming An welcoming the Indian delegation
led by Brig. Abhay Kumar, VSM at heap of stones, which was followed by flag
hoisting by the Chinese soldiers. The delegations also utilized the opportunity
to have a formal interaction with the aim to further progress the growing
relationship between the two countries. They also showcase the cultural
programme which depicted the rich cultural heritage of China. The Indian
delegation was treated with wide array of Chinese cuisine from different
regions. Later on, the day culminates with exchange of gifts and photography
between delegations members and families of both sides, the report added.
