ANINI, April 5: The Mopin festival of Galo tribe of Arunachal Pradesh was celebrated here today alongwith rest of the state with religious fervour and traditional gaiety by the Galo Community working in Dibang Valley district, headed by the Deputy Commissioner, R. Ronya as chief-patron of Mopin festival committee. Reports DIPRO. The secretar, Mopin festival committee, Karmin Kamki ,in his introductory speech highlighted the mythology of Mopin festival in brief. According to him, Mopin festival is celebrated to welcome and appease goddess of harvest, "digo-ane" and "pinku-pinte" for bumper harvest, prosperity and happiness not only for Galo community but also for the entire mankind. The singing of birds, "si-piyir" and "takom papuk" (name of seasonal singing birds) in the month of April indicate the time of sowing seeds and also reminds the Galo population to celebrate Mopin, he added. In the festival all the govt officers, officials and public were invited for the community feast and welcome them with the pasting of "iti pese"  (the mate containing rice powder) on their face.
