Press Release (No. 251)
Naharlagun:- The much awaited 500 KW Mati Nallah Mini Hydro Power Project in Anjaw District has recently been commissioned by the Department of hydro Power development, reports DIPRO Tezu. Stated a decade ago by State government, this Project, located near the Chingwinti bridge over the Lohit River, has been a boon for the Power- starved district. The lone 500 Kw Ampani Project that fed power to Hayuliang and adjoining villages was destroyed in last year's devatating flood. According to R.K. Joshi, EE, Hayuliang located 40 km above Hayuliang, is capable enough to augment power shortage in Hayuliang and roadside villages, which have been recting under power crisis since last year. He further maintained that it will meet power requirements of the young headquarters and adjoining villages for many more years.
This hilly district is endowed by
Nature with numerous streams and water falls which can be harnessed for
developing hydro-electricity. Only recently two more Projects one at kaho and
the other at Kibithoo, have been commissioned by the departments, the report
added.
