Naharlagun November 10:- Commending the efforts of the officials of the education dept. for their missionary zeal in implementing SSA in the state despite the many challenges, Chairman, A. R. Shaheen, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Human Resource Development and other members suggested ways and means to make SSA, a vibrant and effective Mission in the state so that education reach every child of the state. Further assuring support from the Committee for energizing the education sector, suggestions for residential schools, Moving schools for scattered hamlets of the state under SSA was also given.

The chairman was speaking yesterday in a meeting at Itanagar organized to brief the visiting team of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Human Resource of the status of implementation of SSA, Midday Meal and ICDS services in the state. Besides they were also apprised of the practical problems faced in the implementation process and urged to make suitable recommendations.

Expressing over all satisfaction with the progress made in the Mid Day Meal, and ICDS services, the chairman urged them to go by norms, so that objectives of development programme are not defeated. The presentations given to them have given the Committee an insight on what can be done for the development of the state, added the Chairman.

Shri A.K Acharya ,Secretary, Education pointed out that the state has been a late starter in Education, with three schools at the time of Independence and also attributed the poor connectivity within the state a major hindrance to the development of education in particular and other development initiatives in general. Shri Tape Bagra, Secretary, Social Welfare, pointed out infrastructural problems particularly lack of vehicles in effective implementation of ICDS scheme. Senior officials of Education and Social welfare depts. of the state among others were also present on the occasion.
