KHONSA April 17 : Minister for Finance and tax and excise, Kalikho Pul
has said that the state was totally dependent on centre as the state has no
scope for generating revenue and adding that major chunk of the state's
budgetary allocation goes to salary heads leaving precious little for taking up
other developmental projects The minister was on a 2 day visit to Tirap district
from April 15 last While speaking at a meeting attended by officers, public,
students and NGOs, the minister dwelt at length on the financial health of the
state and efforts made by him to improve it for rapid development on all fronts.
Pul asked the oficers and public to work sincerely and with missionary zeal to
make the state self reliant. The local MLAs, DC, officers and public leaders
also spoke on the occasion and appealed the minister to give special attention
to Tirap considering its backwardness. Earlier the minister inspected the
township roads, hospital and govt. HS school at Khonsa. He also visited Deomali
about 40 km from here and nearby villages and acquainted himself with the actual
needs of the people which would help him to plan for development of the state.
All the people of the district have hailed the minister's visit as purposeful
and timely.
