OBSERVANCE OF WORLD MUSEUM DAY AT THE DISTRICT MUSEUM, ALONG ON 18TH MAY' 2005
At Along ' World Museum Day ' observed at the District Museum in a simple but attractive function. The two hours programme was attended by Miss H. Ori,the Editor, Yomgo Calling and a noted social worker of West Siang District as Chief Guest, teachers and students of class IV/V from R.K. Mission school, Siyom Army Public and Messok Memorial St. Thomas spot drawing competition were held whereby the students after seeing the objects displayed in the District Museum were asked to draw one specimen that interested him/her the most. This was followed by distribution of prizes to the winning students.

DRO, Along suggested the school authorities to bring their children atleast once
in a week to visit the museum and study the traditional aspect of their own
culture and custom. He also emphasized on the need of museum in our today's
life. Shri N. Ray, keeper in his welcome address explained the meaning of Museum
and importance of Museum Day Celebration. Miss H. Ori, Editor Yomgo Calling in
her remarks assured her all out help and cooperation and stressed on to organize
this type of programme more and more. She further remarked that since museum
reflects the extinct identity of our culture, it is therefore imperative that
younger generation too should know the rice past of their society and culture
through museum. The teachers from various schools expressed their happiness and
urged the department to organize many more such informative, re-creative and
creative activities so as to cover remaining schools and students of the
district. The function ended with vote of thanks by Shri T. Badu, L.O who
informed that creative works of the students shall be displayed in the museum
gallery for a week for the visitors and hoped that in future the activities of
museum and education shall be further revitalized with active support and help
from the govt. as well as interested individuals and institutions.
