Miao, September 22 : Preparations are going on in full swing by the Namdapha
National Park, Tiger Reserve, Miao, to celebrate 'Wild life week 2005' from
October 1 next in a grand manner at Miao township and nearby areas, Reports DIPRO
"This wild life week is observed every year in the month of October to
coincide with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi whose life symbolizes
Ahimsa" says Shri L.K. Pait, Conservator of forest and Field Director
Namdapha National Park. The week long programme is aimed at creating awareness
amongst the masses and in particular the young generation for conservation of
the natural resources. Programmes will include, mass contact and awareness
programme at villages and screening of nature movies display of wild life
banners, drawing competitions, conduct of Prabhat phery. Essay competition has
also been planned to boost up awareness among the local people on conservation
of natural resources. Field Director, L.K. Pait has requested all sections of
the society, NGOs and government agencies to lend helping hand to the park
authorities so as to make the programme a grand success.
