NAHARLAGUN, April 28 - About five hundred people from every walk of life participated in the maiden "Run for Peace" organized by 39 Assam Rifles at Changlang today. The run which was aimed for peace and harmony followed by development of Changlang as a whole was flagged off by Col. Amit Sharma, Commandant 39 Assam Rifles, reports DIPRO Changlang. While lauding the enthusiastic participation of the public, the commandant expressed great happiness for the grand success of the run and hoped for such participations in the near future also.

Singh, 39AR, informed that the main objective behind conducting the peace rally was to bridge up the gaps and build up a peace and trustworthy environment between arm personnel and local populace. "Run.. Run.. Run for peace, harmony, prosperity and development of Changlang" were the slogans and banners displayed all over the district headquarter being a part of the celebration of their second raising day. The run for a distance of 5 kms, which started from the helipad concluded at the general ground, where the Commandant distributed prizes to the winners. While the prizes were categorized into two, being one for arm personnel and the other for the civilians, rifleman Wangham bagged the first prize in former category followed by AA Yabin and NG Mao second and third respectively. Among the civilians Mr. Sushil Rajbhar took away the first prize, while Shri Thanglang and Panghom bagged the second and third prizes respectively.

Public leaders including the former minister T Ngemu, N Changmi, ZPM N K Longchang with high ranking Assam rifles officers were present in the guest gallery.

Meanwhile, the Moh-Mol festival of Tangsa tribe was also celebrated at Nampong in a befitting manner on April 25th and 26th last. The ADC Changlang ,Sri A K Singh who was the chief guest, greeted the people on the occasion and stressed on preservation of the rich cultural heritage of the community and wished them peace and good health with bumper harvest in the coming year. He further advised the gathering to take keen interest on developmental prospects for the progress of the area.
Later he donated a sum of Rs five thousand to the organizing committee. The day long programme started with the hoisting of festival flag by the chief guest followed by Moh-Mol songs and display of colourful traditional dances. The chief guest also inaugurated the traditional food stalls and took part in the traditional games and sports for which attractive prizes were given away.

Later in the evening fashion shows and cultural show was organized to commemorate the celebration, Earlier, Mrs. W Kimsing the president organizing committee extended warm welcome to all the guests. People from all community joined their hands in the merry making displaying a perfect example of oneness, the report added.
