ALONG, 21ST JULY, 2003:- In its continued effort to create a congenial atmosphere for better
understanding, cooperation and cordial relationship between army and civil, the Deputy Commissioner of West Siang Shri Marnya Ete attended a coordination meeting on an invitation by his army counterpart Brig. Surendra Nath Commander 5 Mountain Brigade on July 19 last.
The discussions mainly focused on issues concerning initiatives from both sides. The Brigadier expressed his commitment to organize a medical camp at Malaria effected village of Bogno on 27th July and called for support from civilian side with man and medicines. This is as part of intensified effort to take control of malaria diseases which has spreaded in the village and taken toll of four lives so far. He expressed his willingness to organize a football tournament in the month of December this year to bring back the popular game in action after a gap arising out of renovation and extension works of general playground. It may be mentioned here that Along football ground has been facelifted to an international standard size with the help of army. Other issue like acquisition of a vast area for army’s expansion, water supply electricity, Joint survey of army civil area, improvement of cable TV service at Along, eye camp to be organized at Along by Rotary club in the month October and other aspects concerning security were discussed at length.
The Deputy Commissioner, Along assured all assistances and cooperation wherever necessary from civilian side in reciprocation . The CO Judicial and LR Shri Hento Karga pointed out a minor boundary problem with army and it has been decided on principle to be sorted out through a joint survey of the area.
