HEALTH CAMP BY VHA -

The Volunteer Health Association (VHA), Arunachal Pradesh conducted a Health camp at Bomdila from 19th July to 21st July 2003. Large numbers of people attended the Camp. The women and children out numbered the adult males patients. Free health check ups are provided in camp along free medicines. The team comprised of five doctors and five paramedical staffs led by Dr. Biman Natung, the Executive Director of VHA of Arunachal Pradesh is on a mission to campaign the importance and efficacy of Indian System of medicine like Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani and Siddha. Along with the treatment the team is campaigning for cultivation of medicinal plants in the area and spreading information about the medicinal plants through pamphlets and handouts distributions. According to Dr. Natung, a number of wild plants are found available in and around the villages and forest areas, which are of immense medicinal values. They grow and die every year without being used by us due to ignorance about their medicinal importance. They can be well cultivated and utilized for the benefit of human beings. It can also be commercialized and export in large scale with proper cultivation, research and documentation. The plants and their utilizations mentioned in it are use full treating common ailments like common cold, cough, headache, toothache, diarrhea, dysentery, skin diseases, snake and Scorpio bite etc. He added that the team would be conducting camps at Tawang, Dirang, Rupa, Shergaon and Kalaktang.

The Executive Director, VHA, Arunachal Pradesh informed that the team of doctors, comprised of Dr. T.Lingu, Dr. K.K.Brohmoh and Dr. Tumpe Boje is on a month long health awareness tour, which started from Papum Pare district, then to East Kameng, West Kameng and will be covering Tawang also.
