TEZU, 22 JULY, 2003:- One day training programme for Tezu & Sunpura Anchal Samity members was held at Tezu on July 21. Speaking as the Chief guest Nakul Chai MOS ( RWD) called upon the elected Panchayat members to work for all round development of their respective jurisdiction with sincerity and devotion to the expectations of the people who have elected them.

He said that the Govt under Chief Minister, Mukut Mithi not only conducted the Panchayati Raj election for the first time in Arunachal Pradesh as per new Panchayat Raj Act the govt. has also delegated powers and functions to the Panchayat bodies. More powers and functions will also handed over in due course on approval of recommendations of the State finance commission which was constituted to look into the matter of devolution of power to Panchayat bodies. Shri Solingso Tayang Chairperson Lohit Zilla Parishad in his address requested the state Govt to delegate all the powers as enumerated in the Panchayat Raj act and also place adequate fund so that developmental activities can be taken up in right earnest from the grass root level.

Shri Y.D. Thongchi Deputy Commissioner enlightened the members on various provisions of the Panchayat Raj including procedures of the meetings of Gram Panchayat and Anchal Samitis, powers of the Chairpersons functions of the gram Panchayat and Anchal Samitis accounting system, budgetary system etc. and clarified different points raised by the member.
